Bournemouth Athletic Club are based at Kings Park Athletic centre which had its official opening meeting was on 23rd July 1960 although the track was in use earlier that summer. The track has been upgraded numerous times, firstly it was upgraded to synthetic in 1984 with an Avonsport surface and then again resurfaced in 1990. A new yellow-coloured roof was added to the grandstand in late 1999 and an announcers box built; due to Poplar tree root damage the track area around the 1500m start was repaired in spring 2001 and the trees removed from the back straight in summer 2002, being replaced by silver birch ones in spring 2003. The local council manage the track having taken back the responsibility from Bournemouth AC.

There are only limited free spaces at Kings Park, either arrive early or be aware the council operates a pay and display in the ajoining car parks.
On hot days and bank holidays traffic in and out of Bournemouth will become heavy as tourists head towards the beach. Also be aware that the track is next to AFC Bournemouth’s football stadium so parking will become congested on match days.
Pokesdown station is situated 1.5 miles from the track, see map opposite.
