Although there were no Senior or Veteran competitors in the SW Cross Country Championships at Bicton, Devon, on Sunday 6 January, there were some excellent performances from our youngsters. The event doubled as an Inter-Counties competition, and our U17 Mens' Team of Jo Arundel, Josh King and Corrie Norton helped the Dorset team to second out of four complete County teams. Of 39 finishers in the race, Jo and Josh ran superbly to finish 6th and 7th respectively in times of 20.08 and 20.23. Congratulations too to Corrie, whose 19th position in 21.12 resulted from another excellent run. Bridget Dence, Glen Balfour and Ella Sykes also did BAC proud. In the U15 Girls' race, Bridget ran yet another outstanding run to finish 5th of 45 finishers, in a time of 15.27, and was part of a Dorset team which was also second of four complete County teams. Glen is proving himself to be a consistent runner, constantly finishing in the top sections of races, and Bicton was no exception, as Glen was 17th of 63 finishers in the U13 Boys' race in a time of 11.48. In the U13 Girls' race, Ella was a highly creditable 19th of 49 finishers in 12.52.
