Members of the committee were
pleased to welcome Alex Copeland to the Club on Tuesday 22nd December.
Despite the fact that it was below zero outside there were still
stalwart members of the club taking the opportunity for a last bout of
training before Christmas.

Alex who was in the area for a
Christmas break took the opportunity to present the Clubmark certificate
to Bournemouth Athletic Club. Alex said, 'It's good to see another club
achieve Clubmark status. I like to take the opportunity to get out and
about and see what's going on a grass roots level. It's some years
since I competed at this track and it's good to see the excellent
facilities made available by the local Council'.

There was an the opportunity to
bring Alex up to speed about the challenges facing the club, not the
least encouraging youngsters into the sport. The Chair, David Parsons
said after the visit, 'We have a thriving development squad of over 60
under 13's. We learnt a lot from Alex and will certainly be putting into
practice tips about attracting and retaining the athletes of the
future'.
