Southern Men’s League Division 3W Reports - 2009

Southern Mens' League Division 3 - Bournemouth - 2 May 2009

In this first fixture of the season for this league, BAC finished 3= with Team Dorset.  BAC results and the team results can be found here

Southern Mens League Division 3 - Abingdon - 16 May 2009

This competition, in which BAC were able to fill almost all the slots, turned into a hard fought race for second place, after it became clear early on that Team Southampton would be the run-away winners.  In the event, BAC lost the second position by only 6 points.  Click here for BAC and the competition results.

Southern Mens League Division 3 - Portsmouth - 6 June 2009

A number of fixture clashes, including the National League the same day, and the Poole 10k the following day, meant that only three athletes were available to travel to Portsmouth.  Despite their valiant efforts (including Dave Flicos competing in 11 events!) it was perhaps inevitable that BAC would come last.  Nevertheless, the 'terrific three' are to be commended for keeping BAC's flag flying during what must have been a very tiring day for all of them.  Click here for BAC results and final club scores.

Southern Mens League Division 3W - Woking - 11 July 2009

At long last the results have come through - click here to see how BAC athletes performed.  A good turnout meant that most events were covered, which enabled the team to come second on the day.  However, attempts to find a website with a league table have proved unsuccessful. There is one match to go, at Kings Park on 1 August, which unfortunately clashes with the next BAL fixture.

Southern Men's League Division 3W - Bournemouth - 1 August 2009

Yet again our SM team was plagued with fixture clashes, with the result that a full team could not be fielded, leaving gaps unfilled.  Despite wins, and maximum points, by Zac Kerin, Simon Armstrong, and team manager Peter Briant, we finished 4th, with 52 points, in this last fixture of the season, and inevitably face relegation.  Interestingly, we were only 2 points behind Salisbury AC, but even if we had secured another 3 points, and 3rd position on the day, we wouldn't have been saved from relegation.  Nevertheless, there has been some enjoyable athletics for those involved throughout the season, which, after all, is the point of it all, and our thanks go to Peter for his management of the team in what have been very challenging conditions.  Click here for BAC results and team positions.
