By anyone's standards, this was a good day for BAC, even if there may be a little disappointment that our senior mens' team didn't actually win the 9th League race in a row (this time we had to settle for second!). No fewer than 18 BAC athletes competed in the Littledown 5 on 19 September, a race which was won overall by Ian Hapgood in a time of 25.38. Ian White, Robin Copestick, Simon Way and Duncan Wells completed the BAC League team, and the fact that we had 9 in the first 30 (or 10 in the first 31!) in a race with 259 finishers is a measure of the growing depth of BAC road running. Chris Birch (as usual!) won the V60 prize, finishing 28th in 30.39. Poole Runners had to field all their big guns to beat a BAC team which was not up to full strength, with Steve Way, Mark Hargreaves and Jon Sharkey competing elsewhere (see 'Other Results 2010' below), and other absences due to holidays. But perhaps most noteworthy was the achievement of our ladies' team, as there were no fewer than 5 BAC lady competitors, this being only the second League race in which we have fielded a complete ladies' team! Carley Rose, finishing 43rd in 32.28, was second lady overall, and Janie Chapman, 63rd in 33.47, was the second lady veteran, with Cherry Sheffrin making up the third team member. The team was well ahead of any other League Division 2 ladies' team, and if we can repeat this success in the remaining League races, there is a very good chance of winning the Division, and promotion to Division 1.
