BAC finished this year's league in fine style with another convincing win on Sunday 7 November at the 'Gilly Hilly', a 7.5 mile race starting and finishing in Gillingham with, in between, as the name implies, a number of hills to negotiate. Robin Copestick, Simon Munro and Graeme Miller all finished in the top ten, with Robin, demonstrating that his return to form continues, storming across the line in second place, some 44 seconds ahead of third placed Club Captain, Simon, who, by anyone's standards, is quite a scalp to take these days! Other honours for BAC were won by Chris Birch, first V60 (again!), and Janie Chapman, first FV40 (again!). Richard Nelson raced in BAC colours for the first time, and showed his potential value to the team, as he would have been our 5th scorer for the League, but won't count till next year's competition, as Richard has already competed for Littledown Harriers in this year's League at the March Hare and Portland 10. We had a ladies' team competing, consisting of Janie, Cherry Sheffrin and Janet Dickinson, who finished this race at the top of Division 2 of the League, so it's clear that, if we can field a ladies' team in sufficient races next year, there is every chance of the ladies joining their male colleagues in Division 1 in 2012, although the achievement might have to compete with another event to get into the headlines! The only sad note to emerge from the 'Gilly Hilly' was that, for the first time ever, Ian White DNFd, having had to pull up with a calf injury, but hopefully a full recovery will come soon.
