Purbeck 10k - 18 May 2011

Although BAC won the open mens' team race, we aren't quite back to winning ways in the League, in which we were second to Poole Runners. The BAC winning team consisted of Ian Habgood, Simon Munro (who achieved yet another PB!) and Robin Copestick, who finished 2nd, 4th and 6th respectively. The race was also the County 10k Championship, so Ian adds a County silver to the gold he won at the North Dorset Village marathon. At half way, Ian seemed to have a comfortable lead over eventual winner, Willard Chinhanhu, but Willard's finishing pace took him past Ian in the last kilometre - but we shouldn't forget that within the last few weeks Ian has run not one, but two, very impressive marathons! Another winner in the race was Janie Chapman, who picked up the award for 3rd lady. One rather sad sight was Paul Chapman, limping to the finish after a solid start, having suffered from an injury which had been lurking before the start. With some important races coming up, hopefully Paul's recovery will be swift. On the other side of the coin, it was very good to see Stu Fox returning to racing, and very effectively too, as he finished 3rd in 33.45. Let's hope Stu carries out his intention to renew his membership very soon!!
