Hoburne 5 - 7th October 2012
BAC's Senior Mens' Team secured the top spot in the Dorset Road Race League for 2012 by a very strong, winning performance in the Hoburne 5 mile race on Sunday 7 October. The best seven results in the League races are taken into account, and, although there are two League races to go, BAC have won seven, a position which cannot now be achieved by any other team. Although there were no open team prizes in the Hoburne 5, team results (of 3) were produced, which showed BAC as first and third teams. The first team consisted of Steve Way, who was the outright winner (despite incorporating the race in a 20 mile training run in preparation for his International 50k!), Ian Habgood, who was second, and Jon Sharkey, 4th. The second BAC team (third in the race) was made up of Mark Hargreaves, who did win the first V50 prize (in fact, as fifth overall, Mark would have won the first V40 prize!), Club Captain Simon Munro, and Corrie Norton, who ran a PB, thus making up for what he considered an unsatisfactory 5k run at Boscombe Pier the previous Friday - despite the fact that most of us would have been delighted to have run Corrie's 5k time! Ian Graham collected the award for first V60, and PBs were also run by Paul Consani and Simon Hearn. So this was a successful race for BAC, and congratulations to BAC's Senior Men for their performance at Hoburne, and their Road Race League 2012 win!
