Purbeck 10k - 16 May 2012

Congratulations to Ian Habgood, who won the Purbeck 10k on the evening of Wednesday 16 May, on its new course, starting at Norden, near Corfe Castle. The course is basically out-and-back, along a very quiet undulating and traffic-free road, with some magnificent views for any participant of a mind to take them in! The race was totally dominated by Poole Runners, who occupied every finishing position between Ian and BAC's next athlete, Robin Copestick, 8th, so the League competition was for second place, between Poole AC and BAC. It often happens that the placings are settled by the fifth scorer, and PAC's greater strength in depth in this race gave them second position, with BAC third. BAC can still retain the League Championship for 2012, with 6 races to go, but there is no doubt we cannot afford to relax. Well done to Purbeck Runners for volunteering to take over this event, for finding a new course (never easy), and for providing a well-organised and enjoyable race.
