Championship Report by William Kersey

"BAC provided many competitors last weekend at The Dorset County Championships. The vast majority were able to give of their best to produce a host of club and championship records and countless PBs.

Prior to the author's fingers getting fatigue, I will start with Jacek Cieluszecki for his demolition of the opposition in the 5000m V35 men in a championship record of 15.29.8. Jacek also defeated the stadium announcer who capitulated in attempting to announce him as the winner, for which she apologised profusely.

Ed Moyse won senior mens 100m, Adam Nash senior men long jump & Simon Armstrong won V/M 50 men Shot,Hammer & Discus. (The author has not checked if these Veteran/Master's performances are BAC records, or Polish Vet records)

Anya Kay won women's 100m & 100m hurdles.(& who's action photo appeared in The Echo).

Danielle Marshall won V/M 100m.

Josh King won both 800 & 1500m in U20 men.

Sarah Kearsey won 200m,400m & 400m hurdles in U20 women, breaking her own championship record in the hurdles with 64.1.

Katrina White won U20 triple jump with 10.88m which also broke the championship record.

Muiris Egan won both 200m & 400m impressively in U17 men.

Other U17 winners were Nishan Brookes in 100m hurdles & Matthew Ridge with a double in javelin & shot (despite competing with a badly swollen foot which had come off 2nd best with a football).

Rachel Welch won the U17 women 100m plus the long jump with ES standard leap of 5.27m .

Angel Kerin won the u17 triple jump, again reaching ES standard with 11.14m.

U15 boy victors were Ben Dickinson in the discus & Patrick Sylla with (just) 6.72 in long jump which was a championship record. In triple jump a championship & club record was set by Patrick with a distance of 13.61m. Ben is currently holding number 1 spot on Power of Ten for the longest javelin throw in UK for under 15 boys

U15 girls victors were Bridget Dence in 800 & 1500m and Danielle Broom in discus & hammer. Danielle only took up the hammer 3 weeks ago & broke the club record with 32.34!

U13 girls saw victories by Gemma Kennard in high jump (she also almost held on to win 100 & 200m finals), Holly Lowther in 75m hurdles and last but not least Hannah Molyneaux winner in long jump, shot, discus & javelin.

Hannah set a championship & club record in discus with a throw of 28.74. She set a championship record in the shot (following on from her recent club record achieved at Kingston in YDL lower).

Hannah now holds top spot in the UK for U13 girls for 2 disciplines & 4th in another. There were too many 2nd places etc by BAC competitors to mention everyone here. It was pleasing to see many BAC competitors entering events they would not usually try & achieving PBs &/or medals in them. Olivia Galloway was a prime example.

If any BAC winners/BAC records/Championship records have been missed, please accept the author's apologies. Cross referring & checking Power of 10 entries with the Dorset Track & Field 2013 Programme & BAC website records is not easy by 11pm at night"
