Road Race Club Championship Rules and Scoring System
The Bournemouth AC Road Race Club Championship is for first claim members only. Points are awarded for competing in the fixtures listed above.
The points allocation is based on finishing position relative to the other Bournemouth AC runners in the same category and are tallied to decide the final Club Road Race Champions of each category. The final score for each individual will comprise of their best five results, with an additional five points for each race they compete in up to a maximum of eight races. Runners must complete at least three of the designated races to qualify for a final placing. Trophies are awarded to the category winners at the at the end of the year.
The Club Championships feature a variety of local road races for members to target. These races also count towards club and individual honours in league competition. One road marathon is also included per person. More than one marathon result can be submitted but only the best time of that individual will count towards their score.
At least three of the designated races must be completed to be eligible for an award. Club Championship points are only awarded to members who enter a race as a Bournemouth AC affiliated runner.
- Participants in the Club Road Race Championships are expected to run in club colours.
- Points will be tallied to determine placings in the following categories: SW, SM, W35, M40, W45, M50, W55, M60. Trophies will be presented at the end of the year for the winners of each category.
- Points are allocated based on finishing position in each race, relative to other Bournemouth AC runners. The first finisher in each category earns 15 points, the second gets 14, the third 13 and so on, down to 1 point for 15th position and below.
- The best five finishes of each athlete will count towards their total score. In addition, five points are gained for every race entered, up to a maximum of eight races.
- Finishing positions are allocated on gun time, except for road marathons where chip time is used.
- Marathon times and a link to the results website should be submitted to the email address shown below the standings table. These must have been received before the penultimate race of the championship.
- Age categories are determined at the time of the first listed race of the year.
In the event of runners being tied on points at the end of the season, the following tiebreakers will be applied in order:..
1. The best three results of the athlete
2. Results between the tied runners if they have competed in three or more events together.
3. The number of races in the series completed.
