Ron Danville and Vincent Taylor both won gold medals in their respective events at this annual event held this year at Newcastle Gateshead, 30th July to 2nd August.
Ron Danville won the Javelin and, though not athletics, also achieved silver in swimming and bronze in table tennis.
Vincent Taylor won three gold medals in the 100m, 200m and long jump.
The Transplant Games have been going for over 30 years. “The Games aim to demonstrate the benefits of transplantation, encouraging transplant patients to regain fitness, whilst increasing public awareness of the need for more people to join the NHS Organ Donation Register and discuss their wishes with their families. They also seek to thank and celebrate donor families and the gift of life.”
Both athletes have trained hard for this event and Ron overcame significant medical obstacles being hospitalised two weeks before the event. Vince is now on his way to Mar del Plata in Argentina for the World Transplant Games.
