The Eastleigh 10k represented an opportunity for Harry Butcher to lay down a marker

The 41st running of the Eastleigh 10k once again lived up to its reputation as one of the fastest and most competitive road races on the calendar, attracting a deep field of 2,480 runners to its famously flat and PB-friendly course.

Bournemouth AC were represented by Matt Brown and rising junior Harry Butcher, both delivering performances of real quality and maturity.

Matt Brown, no stranger to the distance, arrived in solid form following a sequence of consistent outings. His recent 34:43 at the Boscombe 10k came shortly before his outstanding 2:40:11 marathon PB in Valencia, while last year’s marks of 34:42 (Winchester) and 35:06 (Bournemouth Bay) underlined his reliability. Notably, his lifetime best of 32:34 was set on this very course back in 2021.
