Emma Biggs in the Run Through Battersea Park 10k

Emma Biggs was competing in the Battersea Park 10k organised by RunThrough

Two weeks on from her 10k double weekender when she did the Bournemouth Coastal 10 and the Boscombe 10k the next day, Emma Biggs was back on the start line for her next 10k. This time it was the RunThrough Battersea Park 10k that had lured her in.

Emma spends a lot of her time in London so it makes sense to take part in events whilst there. There are so many races put on by RunThrough as well in the various parks that there is an opportunity to compete most weekends.

The RunThrough Battersea Park 10k was a four lap route and as is always the case with Battersea Park, it was a fast, flat course. Ideal for attempting a PB if in shape to do so.

Emma (1485) came into it off the back of her second fastest 10k of the year at Boscombe

After clocking a time of 58:12 at the Bournemouth Coastal 10k, Emma went on to run her second quickest time of the year at the Boscombe 10k, finishing in 56:03.

She tended to run faster in the league races near Bournemouth than she did in the London ones. Her fastest time this year in the London events was the Hyde Park 10k in September which she did in 1:00:39. If she could beat that at Battersea Park, that would be a good result.

She ran the first lap in 12:51, which was 444th fastest. Then for the second lap she registered a 13:38, which was 526th best. For the third lap, she clocked a 14:24 which was 577th best.

At the time it was Emma’s fastest London based 10k of he year

James Stewart of Havering AC won the race in a time of 32:02 which put him 10 seconds ahead of Mark Hill of Rugby and Northampton. Jack Wylie took third in 32:19. Emma Corbett of East London Runners was first female in a time of 37:48, which put her 50th overall.

The following weekend, Emma was in action again at another RunThrough event. This time it was the Victoria Park 10k. In that one, Emma managed to eclipse her time from the Battersea Park 10k, this time finishing in a time of 57:13, which put her 388th overall out of 656 and she was 135th female out of 326.

On gun time, she was 370th overall and 123rd female. The winner of that race was Sam Peppiette of Belgrave Harriers in a time of 31:49. Lee Gatland was second in 32:25, with Sean Cordon of Dulwich Runners taking third in 32:54.

Sioned Howells of Swansea Harriers was first female in 38:18, which put her 26th overall, with Carina Li being second woman over the line in 38:38. She came 31st overall.

Emma managed to better her Battersea Park 10k time at Victoria Park by 20 seconds

It was another pleasing performance from Emma and to execute her fastest London based 10k in her final one of the year was a great note to end on.

With the exception of the Round the Lakes 10k in April, which was her fastest time of the year in 52:12, she’d generally improved on her times as the year progressed. If she continues doing what she’s doing, there’s no reason why she can’t continue to get fitter and faster in 2026.

With her willingness to race, she’ll definitely be an asset to the ladies team as they look to fulfil the scoring quote in more of the league events this season.
