As exams were over, a growing number of U18s joined the senior athletes for the trip to Oxford. The weather was good for athletics, albeit hot at times making it challenging for our officials who were out in the sun all day. We came away with 4th place only 1 point behind 3rd place Ashford (note to self: do triple jump next time!). A team and officials photo almost happened, but the herding of cats failed.
With apologies for any omissions, the team consisted of:
Women
Chloe Burrows
Holly Collier
Janet Dickinson
Chloe Johnson (U18)
Jasmine Munden (U18)
Gabriella Pitman (U18)
Nikki Sandell
Harriet Slade
Tonaya Welsh (U18)
Joy Wright
Men
Christian Baptist
Stewart Cotterill
Steve Cox
James Lelliott
Adam Nicholass
Noel Slade (U18)
Manuel Stone
Vince Taylor
Dante Thompson
Notable performances included:
The u18 women for doing their maximum number of events, with the 4×100 relay being all u18s and some running over their distance to fill spaces in the mixed 4×400. For Jasmine Munden this was also her second day of competition having competed at SW Schools on Saturday.
Almost everyone else for filling multiple events, especially James, Adam, Dante and Nikki.
Joy and Chloe for demonstrating their throwing skills.
Full results can be found on the Power of 10
Our officials were:
- Dave Clarke (timekeeper)
- Juliet Dobson (field)
- Jemma Bates (field)
- Hazel Bates (track)
- Janet Dickinson (field)
- Joy Wright, Craig Munden and several other parents (field helpers)
Team managers: Jemma Bates and Adam Nicholass
The next SAL match will be at Bournemouth on Sunday 19th July. A good turn out needed at this match!
