September saw 11 first/second claim BAC masters athletes make the trip to Derby for the British Masters Track and Field Championships. To qualify as a master you need to be 35 plus and then you can compete in 5 year age bands. The club was represented by sprinters, middle distance runners, throwers and jumpers, resulting in a sizable medal haul despite the rather mixed weather.

Athletes and their achievements are as follows (with apologies for omissions):

Women

Janet Dickinson (W55) 3 Golds (high jump, long jump, javelin), 7^th 100m.

Shannon Evans (W60) Silver (weight throw), Bronze (javelin) 4^th (shot, discus), 5^th (hammer).

Jean Fail (W75) Gold (80m hurdles).

Catherine Holdsworth (W40) 3 Golds (shot, discus, javelin) and 2 Silver s(hammer, weight throw).

Caroline Marler (nee Hext) (W75) 3 Golds (shot, javelin, discus)

Harriet Slade (W35) Gold (800m)

 

Men

Tim Beaglehole (M65) 7^th in 200m and made final of 100m but unable to run due to injury.

Adrian James (M45) Bronze 400m.

Geoff Newton (M80) Bronze in 5000m.

Pavel Tesar (M45) 7^th in 100m and just outside the 200m final.

Phil York (M60) Bronze in 2000m steeple chase and 8^th 1500m.
